I feel like I might be cutting my own throat on this hobby by telling you this. Take it from a guy who spent the majority of his life leaving once fired brass where they landed, PICK UP YOUR BRASS.
Even if you never plan on using it yourself, you’ll run into a deserving person sooner or later and BANG! You get a new friend out of the deal!

This haul has a small but beautiful handful of .270, some rather usual .30-06, assorted shotshell hulls, & .38 Spl which is mine that I brought to the range.

The .45 Acp is always appreciated & not normally found in any large quantities, the 9mm & .223 get added to strategic reserves. Thanks everyone.

Maybe you’ve noticed the quantity of .223 brass picked up isn’t that much! Up until early 2020 .223 brass littered the ground at the range. It was cheap enough to buy in case lots and wasn’t a priority to reload for most shooters. Well, Bang! Firearms laws in Canada took a catastrophic hit in early 2020.
There is no longer a market for large quantities of .223 ammunition, most of the firearms chambered for .223 / 5.56 have been removed from the Canadian market, hence the market for case lots of FMJ .223 is gone as well.
Shooters of .223 can soon expect to pay standard hunting rifle ammunition prices for the usual 20 rd. boxes.
