Fixed Wing

Twin Otter
Twin Otters were only used for “Search & Rescue”. I flew in them a few times.
Buffalo

If we ever meet you can ask me about that time I flew a Buffalo over the rocky mountains!
Hercules
If we ever meet you can ask me about that time “I managed to get a bulldozer started while it was tied down inside a C-130 Hercules as it was flying over the rocky mountains“!
Aurora
Aurora aircraft used to do an East to West & Return trip almost weekly to many of the arctic “Dewline Stations“, I stayed or worked at a few of those stations. These aircraft would bring Mail, DVD’s & Groceries to each station as well as doing their regular arctic patrols, back & forth along the north coast. Never flew in one, they just landed, unloaded, and took off, didn’t waste any time.
Boeing 707
I flew in these many times, Edmonton, AB to Vancouver to Comox & Return. Many times. Comox & Edmonton were both SAR bases, Vancouver was just for a fuel stop normally.
Rotary Wing
Kiowa
These were basically used as “Scouts” but I did ride along a few times. These are just Bell 206 Jetrangers in military colours. Didn’t really carry many troops, not a useful amount of gear & no guns mounted. An “LOH – Light Observation Helicopter“.
Iroquois

I seem to recall that the Iroquois were almost exclusively used for “Search & Rescue” so I flew in them a few times. They’re basically a “Bell 205” in SAR Colours.
Twin Huey
If we ever meet you can ask me about that time “I was flying home in a Twin Huey and we had a serious bird strike”!
Chinook
What’s more to say about Chinooks. They were an Army workhorse, A bunch of troops or a bunch of gear, sometimes sling loads! I flew in them numerous times.
Labrador

From what I gather, the Labradors got an upgrade and from that point on they were Voyageurs. Almost exclusive to “Search & Rescue“, like these old birds, I flew in them a few times just like the other SAR aircraft.
Voyageur

U.S. Military Aircraft
There was only a few times I had any interaction with U.S. Military Aircraft but there were a few times.
UH-60 Black Hawk
Only ever saw one once, when I was training to become an “Aircraft Maintenance Engineer” until very recently when I saw an Ex-Army Black Hawk that was converted for Fire Fighting at a local airport in Nanaimo, BC where it was stationed for the season.
Cobra
2 of these showed up on base once with 2 Chinooks full of support personnel. They were there putting on a “Firepower Demonstration” for a couple days. It was wicked to see what these things could do!
Apache
I was attending the McDonnell Douglas Training Facility and we got a “Private Airshow” with Apaches that were being delivered to the U.S. Army. We also got a tour of the manufacturing facility and got to watch them do a stress test on an Apache Airframe. They’re cool birds, very tough!
