Also known as “Bar 1” I think? This was the westernmost “Canadian” DEW Line site. operated by the U.S. Air Force.

I remember that we had regular weekly visits from a Canadian Aurora Patrol Aircraft that flew back and forth from the East Coast to the West.

They brought us all the latest releases on VHS, for the TV room.

The buildings had a real Eerie feeling when you were inside. They had submarine style door hatches all over the place and most of the walls etc. were real thick steal. If you buttoned this thing up it didn’t matter how bad the weather got, you just stayed inside and relaxed with a nice cup of coffee.

I have a few stories about this place, but that’s for another day.

Location: North Coast, Yukon Territory, Canada, just inside from the U.S. Border.

Fishing: Yep! Caught a beautiful “Arctic Char” up here.

Purpose: Geological Exploration, looking for fossils, boy did we find them! Everywhere, you looked there was another big rock sticking out of the ground, covered in fossils.

Man, I could sure go for a big heaping plate of pancakes right now!
