Joe Louis Walker (1949–2025) was an acclaimed American electric blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer from San Francisco. Known for his deep knowledge of blues traditions and his ability to blend them with gospel, soul, and modern energy, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned multiple Blues Music Awards over a long career.
“Blues of the Month Club” is the title track from his 1995 album of the same name, co-produced with legendary guitarist Steve Cropper. The clever, wry song lists everyday troubles—bills, exes, bad luck—as membership dues in the perpetual “club” of the blues, delivered with Walker’s soulful vocals and sharp guitar work.
