Roomful of Blues is a long-running American jump blues and R&B band formed in 1967 in Westerly, Rhode Island, by guitarist Duke Robillard and pianist Al Copley. Known for their powerful horn section and swinging style that blends blues, swing, and soul, the group has released numerous albums, earned multiple Grammy nominations, and continued performing with evolving lineups for nearly six decades.

“It All Went Down the Drain” is a blues number written by New Orleans legend Earl King that Roomful of Blues recorded with him on the 1988 album Glazed. The song later appeared in a lively live version on the band’s 2013 anniversary release 45 Live, becoming a regular part of their setlists.

  • Originally recorded with Earl King on the Grammy-nominated album Glazed
  • Features classic blues storytelling about a relationship falling apart
  • Highlights the band’s tight horn arrangements and energetic delivery
  • Frequently performed live and covered by other artists, including Boz Scaggs

The track remains a fine example of Roomful of Blues’ ability to honor blues traditions while delivering high-energy, danceable performances.
