Eddy Clearwater (born Edward Harrington, 1935–2018), nicknamed “The Chief,” was a dynamic Chicago blues guitarist and singer known for his high-energy style that blended West Side blues with rock ’n’ roll flair. A left-handed player who performed with an upside-down guitar, he drew strong influence from Chuck Berry and Magic Sam while often appearing onstage in a full Native American headdress.

“Back Down to Earth” is a track from his 2003 album Rock ’N’ Roll City, a collaboration with the instrumental rock band Los Straitjackets. Written by Clearwater himself, the song fits the album’s upbeat, rootsy rock ’n’ roll and blues hybrid sound.
