Eddie Money (born Edward Joseph Mahoney, 1949–2019) was an American rock singer and songwriter known for his polished, blue-collar rock sound that produced a string of hits from the late 1970s through the 1980s. A former New York police academy trainee who moved to California to pursue music, he scored major successes with songs like “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Baby Hold On,” and “Take Me Home Tonight.”

“Peace in Our Time,” released in 1989 on his greatest-hits collection The Sound of Money, is a hopeful rock ballad written by Andy Hill and Peter Sinfield (originally recorded by Jennifer Holliday). Money’s version became one of his later chart successes, delivering an anthemic message of faith, love, and building a better world.

  • Peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100
  • Reached No. 2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart
