Omar & the Howlers are an Austin-based electric blues and blues-rock band led by singer and guitarist Omar Kent Dykes. Originally formed in Mississippi in the 1970s, the group became part of Austin’s vibrant blues scene and developed a reputation for loud, raw, energetic performances rooted in traditional blues, rock & roll and Southern music.

“Ton of Blues” comes from the band’s 1997 album Southern Style. Written by Omar Dykes and Kevin Wommack, the 3:53 track is a good example of the band’s swampy, hard-driving blues-rock approach, with Dykes’ gritty vocals and guitar at the center.
