An essential piece of equipment if you’re Viking but not if you’re Hiking!
Too heavy for my pack! Only if I was planning on an overnight trip would I even consider carrying an axe. After all, as far as “Survival Gear” goes, you’ve got your saw. Remember the saw?
On the other hand, if my little excursion was to include a vehicle, than an axe is always going to be part of the gear.
