The “Test Fishery” for BC Crayfish has been successful! Caught one! I took 2 crayfish traps up to the lake just before dark and baited them with cat food and hotdogs, threw them in about 30 ft. from shore in about 6 ft. of water. As you can see in the photo, I had to “Sew” the trap shut after baiting it because the zipper broke.
Also did some not so serious “Smallmouth Bass” fishin’ , struck out on catching any but did see juvenile (2-5 inches) “Smallies” for the second time, I know there’s bigger ones in there somewhere.
I measured the water temperature with a small aquarium thermometer I carry when fishing and it measured about 76 deg. F (24 deg. C).

The lake has a well established Bass, Bullfrog & Tadpole population, so I actually caught 4 extremely large tadpoles in addition to the 1 small/med crayfish. This is a great success as far as I am concerned. Where there’s 1 there’s more…..
