This, if I am remembering correctly, was the wreckage of a DC3 Canadian Search & Rescue Aircraft that crashed while air dropping supplies to a different crashed aircraft.
We walked around the site and took a look around while we were there. It amazed me how well some of the parts looked after so many years exposed to the elements. I do distinctly remember the fabric covered ailerons were in great condition still. This was seen back in the 90’s
