Intended Use
I was in the market for a bolt action .308 and this came up at a good price. I had lots of .30-06 brass from my previous “Brass Hauls” and when I heard the price, the first thing I thought of was “I’m a Handloader, I can get .308 performance or better out of this .30-06”. This would be considered my “Primary Big Game Rifle”.
Effective Range
Realistically this rifle should be able to reach out to 500 Yds. in the right hands. For my use I would be happy to use it at 200 Yds.

Safety is on the RH side & is very easy to click on/off.
Action

Proven design. Traditional, bolt action repeater with integral 5 shot magazine.

Trigger

Trigger is nice and “Crisp” single stage. Non-Adjustable.
Muzzle

Standard, non-threaded factory muzzle.
Stock

1 Piece traditional wooden stock as was common for so many years.
Buttplate

Buttplate has a nice soft recoil absorbing buttpad installed.
Sights

Factory supplied with traditional iron sights, although you may notice that the front sight hood is missing.

Optics

This rifle is equipped with a “Vortex Viper 3 – 9 x 40”, just because it is what I had available.

Accessories

Utility Pouch

C’Mon, who doesn’t see the benefit in having a small utility Pouch on your rifle?

Sling
Any simple traditional sling will do and for hunting purposes I would most definitely have a sling.
Bipod

I use a Chinese copy of Harris Bipods. Installed for range use but would be removed for hunting purposes.
Flash Hider
Not equipped or available.
Light
This rifle is not designed to have a light installed and it would not be legal under normal hunting conditions
Optics

This rifle has primary iron sights as supplied from the factory so “Optics” are truly an “Accessory”.
Optics UPDATED! (2023/04/13) Rings & Bases info!
A YouTube commenter (Thanks, BTW), is prepping a “Husky” for elk this fall 2023 and he asked for more info on the Rings & Bases I used for this rig.
Here Goes ….. I’m going by memory here so …..
The Rings
The rings I used are definitely Weaver Brand, LOW, nothing special just what I had laying around, haha. I do admit that I subscribe to the lowest mounting that will work method but in the end it’s what you have, what you like, what works for you.
The Bases
These if I recall were just “Of The Rack” Weaver Brand, 2 piece bases for a 98 mauser, I think they call it a “Large Ring” action. Not sure of these details anymore these days, don’t really care much about it anymore, sorry.
Detail Pictures for reference to follow:

If you like Butler Creek Scope caps like I do, you’re out of luck on using one on the front due to the rear sight being in the way. As far as the scope goes, well ….. same thing, it’s just what I had laying around that seemed like it might work O.K., I’d probably be just as happy with an old Weaver K4 or something like that. I would drop the scope, the rings & the bases completely if I could get a proper rear peep sight, (That would be cool).
Ammunition Handling

You have to carry your ammo some way? May as well carry it in the pouch!
What would I Change?
This is a very traditional bolt action hunting rifle. There isn’t really much to change.
Ammunition
Factory
Standard ..30-06 Caliber ammo.
Handloaded
This rifle has huge potential when it comes to handloaded ammo.
Shooting Results
Factory Ammunition
I have not tested this rifle with factory ammo.
Handloaded Ammunition
Subsonic Handloads
I tested some low power “small Game” loads on my last range trip.

Mid-Power Handloads
Mid-Power handloads have not been tested yet..
High Velocity “Varmint” Handloads
I have not loaded any of these loads yet.
Full Power Handloads
I have not yet loaded any “Full Power” handloads.
What’s Next?
Wow! This rifle has so many available options as far as handloading. Right now I want to focus on lightweight, subsonic, small game hunting ammo and then I’ll move along to other loads.
