Intended Use

I bought this just because it was the “Archetype” “Survival Rifle”. I consider this my “Boat Gun”. By the way, they don’t float for long. haha

Effective Range

35 Yds. is my maximum intended range, only due to the iron sights. Younger eyes may get out to about 50 or more Yds. but I stick to range shooting out to 25 and I can rock pop cans all day long.

Safety

This rifle has a simple safe/fire safety lever located on the RH side. Large enough to manipulate with gloves.

Action

Takedown, Semi-Auto, Mag Fed, Survival Rifle

Magazines

Note the “Wire” feature on the magazines, which have proven to be completely reliable, by the way. 8 shot capacity isn’t really a problem for my use.

Mag Release

The magazine release can be activated from within the trigger guard.

Trigger

This rifle is amazingly accurate, even though it feels very weird when shouldered.

Stock

Factory supplied with a plastic molded hollow buttstock.

Buttplate

Factory Equipped with a flexible plastic buttstock cap.

Sights

This rifle is factory equipped with simple but very effective iron sights.

Optics

Optics can be mounted on the rifle but it really loses it’s appeal because it can no longer be stored in the buttstock.

Accessories

There are almost NO accessories for this rifle.

Utility Pouch

It’s very difficult to mount a buttstock pouch on this rifle. It’s just better to designate a small pack to carry everything in.

Sling

Even a simple sling is difficult to use with this rifle.

Light

This rifle is not designed to have a light attached to it, carry your EDC light if you think you might need it. You have an EDC light don’t you?

What would I Change?

Henry should at a minimum include a full size integral Picatinny Rail. It would also be nice if they could redesign the molding on the inside of the buttstock to include proper ammo storage. Some kind of single point sling point would be nice too.

Ammunition

Standard .22 LR, Medium or High Velocity works best.

Shooting Results

Factory Ammunition

I have tested this with a variety of .22 ammo, it works well. I shoot this rifle at 25 Yds. at pop cans on a regular basis and it is surprisingly accurate.

What’s Next?

These rifles are super fun to shoot at pop cans and fellow shooters are always interested in seeing them. I will continue to use this as a “Boat Gun” and at the range.
